Skill-first and mixed combinations
Combinations built around a skill subject or across streams: AI, IT, design, media, finance or sports alongside academic subjects.
This is probably you if
- You already know a field you want to work in and want hands-on learning now.
- You want to mix subjects across streams, such as Physics with Psychology or Computer Science with Political Science.
- You are considering design, media, IT, finance operations, hospitality, sports or an early vocational path.
A typical week
Lab or studio time for the skill subject, projects due every term, and the normal load of the academic subjects you pair it with.
Decide with these questions
- Which specific skill subject, and will your school offer it?
- Do you have four academic subjects for CUET if you need them?
- Is the mix available in your school's blocks?

Routes this stream serves
Exams to know
Strengths
- Practical, project-based learning with lighter theory.
- A sixth skill subject is a safety net under the replacement rule.
- Mixed combinations match real interests better than a fixed stream.
Costs
- Most skill subjects have no CUET domain test, so keep at least four academic subjects for central universities.
- Schools can timetable only some mixes; availability varies a lot.
- Some universities still read eligibility in stream terms and need a conversation at admission.
They are board-examined CBSE subjects with marksheets. They just map to fewer CUET tests.
It closes only the doors that need a specific subject you left out. The planner shows exactly which.

The sixth subject: what it does and how to pick it
It is a safety net and a chance to learn something you like. It is not a percentage booster.

Computer Science vs Informatics Practices
Both use Python. One is about how computers work; the other is about working with data.
