Streams, honestly compared
CBSE no longer fixes streams, but the five paths below describe most combinations. Each guide covers who it suits, what it keeps open, the workload and the myths.
Science with Mathematics (PCM)
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics: the combination that keeps engineering, architecture, defence technical entries and most quantitative degrees open.
Science with Biology (PCB)
Physics, Chemistry and Biology: the path to medicine, dentistry, AYUSH, veterinary science, nursing, pharmacy and the life sciences.
Commerce
Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics: the route into chartered accountancy, finance, management, economics and entrepreneurship.
Humanities (Arts)
History, Political Science, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Economics and more: the stream for law, civil services, social sciences, media, design and teaching.
Skill-first and mixed combinations
Combinations built around a skill subject or across streams: AI, IT, design, media, finance or sports alongside academic subjects.
