Science with Biology (PCB)
Physics, Chemistry and Biology: the path to medicine, dentistry, AYUSH, veterinary science, nursing, pharmacy and the life sciences.
This is probably you if
- You like understanding how living things work and remembering structured detail.
- You are drawn to healthcare, research, agriculture, psychology with a science base, or biotechnology.
- You can handle Physics and Chemistry at Class 12 level even if they are not your favourites.
A typical week
Biology brings long chapters and diagrams to learn, plus a practical every week. Physics and Chemistry add problem sets. NEET aspirants usually study 2 to 3 extra hours daily from Class 11.
Decide with these questions
- Can you see yourself in a clinical or research setting for years?
- Are you prepared for the NEET cycle, including a possible second attempt?
- Would adding Maths (PCMB) be a safety net or an overload for you?

Routes this stream serves
Exams to know
Strengths
- The only route to MBBS and most clinical degrees.
- Biology is a scoring, practical-rich subject for students who study consistently.
- Psychology or Biotechnology as the fifth subject adds breadth without extra maths.
Costs
- NEET is a single, highly competitive exam with one attempt a year.
- Without Mathematics, engineering and most quantitative degrees close.
- Physics at Class 12 is the subject PCB students most often struggle with.
Pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, veterinary science, biotechnology, agriculture, forensic science, psychology and public health are all PCB routes.
NEET tests Physics, Chemistry and Biology only. Maths is needed only if you also want engineering or statistics-based degrees.

Subjects you need for medicine, and the alternatives if NEET isn't for you
PCB plus English for NEET, and the many routes that use the same subjects.
PCM or PCB? Deciding between Mathematics and Biology
The one choice inside Science that decides whether engineering or medicine stays open.
Should you take PCMB? Pros, cons and who it suits
Four heavy subjects at once keeps both JEE and NEET open, at a real cost.
Psychology in Class 11: what it is really like
A science of the mind with experiments and statistics, not a conversation about feelings.
