Subjects you need for medicine, and the alternatives if NEET isn't for you
PCB plus English for NEET, and the many routes that use the same subjects.
The rule
NEET requires Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology, and English, in Class 12. Mathematics is not required. You must be 17 by the end of the admission year.
Beyond MBBS
The same subjects open dentistry, AYUSH, veterinary science, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, biotechnology, agriculture and allied health sciences. Many of these admit through NEET, state tests or CUET and have far less competition than MBBS.
If you want insurance
Adding Mathematics (PCMB) keeps engineering and statistics-based degrees open, but only if you can carry four heavy subjects. Psychology as the fifth subject is a lighter way to broaden, and leads to clinical psychology with a science base.
Timing
NEET is once a year. Plan for the possibility of a second attempt, and keep board marks strong because many allied-health admissions use them.
