Should you take PCMB? Pros, cons and who it suits
Four heavy subjects at once keeps both JEE and NEET open, at a real cost.
Who it suits
Students with strong Class 10 marks in both Maths and Science, who do not yet know between engineering and medicine, and who have the stamina for four practical subjects. Also students aiming at IISER or NEST, where all four subjects are tested.
The cost
Four subjects with long syllabi and practicals, plus English, means the busiest timetable in school. Entrance coaching on top usually forces a choice by the end of Class 11 anyway. Marks in the boards often dip.
A better plan for most
Decide between Maths and Biology by the middle of Class 11 using your own experience of the subjects. If you want insurance, take Mathematics with PCB rather than Biology with PCM: Mathematics is the subject more often demanded later.
