After JEE, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) allots seats at IITs, NITs and IIITs over several rounds. After NEET, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) handles All India Quota seats and states handle their own quotas.
You fill preferences, get a provisional allotment, and accept, float or withdraw. Document checks include Class 12 subject proof, so your subject choice matters until the very end.
