NDA & NA Examination
The entrance for the National Defence Academy (Army, Navy, Air Force) and the Naval Academy, taken straight after Class 12.
Class 12 subjects
Army wing: any stream. Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy: Physics and Mathematics in Class 12.
Eligibility
Unmarried candidates, age 16.5 to 19.5 years on the cut-off date. Class 12 passed or appearing. Physical and medical standards apply. Open to women candidates since 2022.
Pattern
Written exam of two papers: Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability Test (600 marks: English and General Knowledge including Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography and Current Events), followed by a five-day SSB interview and a medical examination.
What this means for Class 11
- The Mathematics paper is Class 11-12 level, so taking Mathematics (041) helps even for the Army wing.
- For the Air Force and Navy you need Physics and Maths in Class 12, so decide this in Class 11.
- Fitness training should start in Class 11; the SSB and medical are as selective as the written paper.
